For over two years, Dust 2 has been absent from the competitive map pool, and since transitioning to CS2, we have little knowledge of how the map has changed in gameplay. It was available for 10v10 casual matches, which don’t reflect real competitive scenarios. The only way to play competitively on this map was through CS:GO’s ranking system. Getting decent competitive experience there after Faceit and Premier was nearly impossible, so now we have to recall and relearn everything.<\/span><\/p>

Grenades are one of the key factors influencing the game, so knowing basic setups is crucial for every player. Below, we’ll discuss the most default positions on the map, which become much easier to play when using the right grenades.<\/span><\/p>

For most of these throws, you’ll need to perform a jumpthrow action. To execute this, hold the left mouse button, jump, and release the LMB. Upon successful execution, you’ll hear your character’s distinct exhalation. For a 100% success rate, it’s better to bind this action to a key and execute the jump and throw with one button:<\/span><\/p>

    This smoke grenade, thrown almost immediately from spawn, is crucial for safely taking control of mid and short, preventing the CT side from gaining information in this area. It can be used not only for taking short but also for faking when quickly pushing A or B site. This smoke forces at least two players from the CT side to pay attention to this area, helping to achieve the necessary majority on other points. Playing under this smoke is also a popular strategy for most players because by controlling this part of the map, you open up opportunities for A site entry and quick rotations to B. A highly useful grenade that can be thrown in almost every round.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    With the first grenade, you’ve taken control of short, but now you need to solve the problem of entering A site. The first grenade is thrown from the left side of the door, and to throw the second one, you need to stand in the middle of the metal grate. These grenades help to conceal yourself from positions on Goose, Car, Long, and opponents playing in the bomb plant zone. Such entries can be accompanied by flashbangs and molotovs, which are quite easy to throw on intuition.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    The most useful grenade for taking control of the center, which cuts off almost half of the map. There are many variations on how to place this smoke, but this one is very simple and requires no practice. Press against the corner of the box, aim at the spot on the wall, and left-click. It’s useful to push out onto the closed area with flashes from teammates to drive away enemies watching the door exit. The smoke is used to enter B site through mid, and successfully taking control of this zone almost guarantees a round victory.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    The T side’s entry onto this site is quite challenging. They have to pass through a narrow corridor, which can be watched from multiple positions. Thanks to these grenades, you can cut off at least two of them and, most importantly, prevent reinforcements. You’ll only have to deal with opponents inside the site, usually no more than one or two.<\/span><\/p>

    If the previous grenades were popular in CS:GO, these are entirely new versions of smokes made possible by the open skyboxes in CS2. These lineups have several advantages over previously popular smokes from “dark”:<\/span><\/p>

    1. They are thrown from one spot, easily manageable by a single player.<\/span><\/li>
    2. No need to occupy “dark” beforehand and worry about a player coming from below.<\/span><\/li>
    3. Smokes predominantly unfold towards the defense, eliminating the unexpected opponent’s push through the smoke.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      This is the only grenade today thrown while holding down the key responsible for moving forward. To hit the smoke successfully, you need to calculate the trajectory of movement and throw to hit the drawn tooth on the wall. This grenade was also used in CS:GO, but it required two smokes to completely cover the position. In CS2, due to the new smoke expansion, filling all possible space, only one grenade is enough.       The CT smoke significantly facilitates the push onto long, but the position at car also causes a lot of inconvenience to the attacking side.       How often have you heard “Can I get a flash for long?” while playing Dust 2? Most likely, this happens in most of your games, and you’ve said similar phrases many times yourself. Since long is quite an important part of the map, this phrase is used when playing on both sides. After transitioning to CS2, nothing has changed here, but we recommend using these specific grenade options to increase the chances of successfully blinding opponents.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      Both sides usually actively try to take control of this part of the map and spend a lot of resources on it. In CS:GO, making such a throw was extremely difficult due to closed skyboxes. Previously, you had to quickly move to short, throw the grenade while moving and jumping, and the orientation in the sky made it very unstable. Now everything has become much easier, requiring no practice and involvement of allies. The grenade lands quite quickly and can significantly slow down the opponent’s exit to long.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
