Getting to a major is incredibly difficult, and not every esports player manages to achieve this goal. For some, it takes years, while others were never able to play at the main Counter-Strike championship. But this goal is only the first step on the way to the highest level of the pro scene; there are many examples of teams that reach the major, but leave it very quickly, without having shown anything.
It is even more difficult to go through this long and painful path and take part in the playoffs. At this stage, not only the most talented esports players are playing against you, but also crowds of spectators, as well as your own nerves and great responsibility. Not all teams can withstand this pressure and break down as soon as they enter the arena.
Before the start of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, predicting who would be in the playoffs of the first CS2 major was more difficult than ever. However, the entire community had confidence in one team: Team Spirit. This team from the CIS has already surprised everyone and it’s even difficult to imagine that anyone will be able to stop them on the way to another trophy. However, there is always room for error, and there will be seven more opponents in the playoffs who will always take advantage of this opportunity. In this article, we will discuss all the participants in the final stage of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 and decide who will be able to impose a fight on the main favorite, Team Spirit.
Why are Team Spirit so strong?
First, it’s worth discussing Team Spirit itself. Most players think that the strength of the team is associated only with the insane talent and playing form of Danil donk Kryshkovets, but this is far from the case. The success of the team lies in the correct construction of the team and the huge contribution from each of its members. Unlike all teams on the modern professional scene, Team Spirit has no weaknesses. All the players play their best roles and do it well.
In addition to donk, the team has one of the best snipers on the planet – Dmitry sh1ro Sokolov. He managed to prove this even in Cloud9, when the esportsman was under great pressure from the mental component and the inner workings of the team. In Team Spirit, the player blossomed with new colors, he is glad to play in such a team and a smile appeared on his face again. He just does his job and can be confident in his teammates.
Its captain also played a big role in the success of Team Spirit. Leonid chopper Vishnyakov has remained faithful to the organization for five years. He had many chances to go to top CIS organizations, but decided to believe in the club and build something of his own. After many compositions, he finally succeeded at the age of 27. Leonid chopper Vishnyakov is the iron core of the team, he can provide not only huge and useful experience, but also confidence for young players. He is not afraid to play against the strongest opponents, although he himself does not have such titles behind him.
Boris magixx Vorobiev and Myroslav zont1x Plakhotia are also in their places and bring a lot of benefits to Team Spirit. It is difficult to remove any player from a truly strong team so that he remains at the same level. An example of such a team is Team Spirit. MOUZ is the main threat
To everyone’s surprise, the main threat on Team Spirit’s path to the championship was MOUZ. Of course, the team was one of the strongest representatives of the tier-1 scene even before PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, but no one thought that it would be so strong. The club gave its main star, David frozen Chernyansky, to FaZe Clan, but was not at a loss and found another talent. The team’s great success came precisely after the acquisition of Ludvig Brollan Brolin. The esportsman had enormous talent, but could not find a suitable team for himself. What's wrong with Team Vitality and FaZe Clan?

Seeing Cloud9 and Eternal Fire so high was quite unpredictable. Kirill Boombl4 Mikhailov’s roster is on the verge of restructuring, and the Turkish team does not have enough experience and prospects to compete with the best teams on the LAN and especially on the major. However, against the backdrop of an unconvincing performance from the other participants of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, they showed their best.
Cloud9 is no longer hampered by the lack of a sniper; the team plays with a positive attitude to achieve the maximum result from its capabilities. Eternal Fire uses its strong side – the impeccable level of shooting and personal performance of its stars. The teams are still not favorites for the championship title, but they can still surprise every participant in the playoffs.
The main outsiders of the playoffs PGL Major Copenhagen 2024
All of the above teams, in theory, can compete for first place at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, which cannot be said about its last two participants. G2 Esports and Natus Vincere ended up here with great difficulty and thanks to some luck. G2 completely rode out the prime form of Ilya m0NESY Osipov, without him the team would have left the major very quickly. He is usually supported by Nikola NiKo Kovac, but he has one of the worst tournaments of his career. If m0NESY is not playing well, G2 Esport has absolutely nothing to oppose to the strongest teams.
In the case of Natus Vincere, everything is still more difficult. The team does not have big names and players who are capable of winning matches on their own. The club’s current roster is built on team play: in this concept, each player must make his own impact. But at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, the NAVI system failed, Aleksi Aleksib Virolainen and Ivan iM Mihai are among the worst Elimination Stage players, even in comparison with esportsmen who have already left the major. Natus Vincere no longer has Oleksandr s1mple Kostyliev, who could bridge this gap, and it will be extremely difficult for her to perform adequately in the playoffs of the first CS2 major.
