During the week, most of the Counter-Strike community sacrificed sleep, because according to rumors and information from data miners, the developers were preparing the first operation for us for CS2. And the update did come out, but we saw absolutely not what we expected for the 25th anniversary of the series. For the first time, the developers have introduced new community cards without operation and any content in the form of cases. It is difficult to find those who were satisfied with the released patch, but perhaps these are not all surprises from Valve and we need to wait a little longer. New maps for CS2
Along with The Real MVP update, CS2 introduced five new maps: Thera and Mills in competitive, casual and Deathmatch modes, Memento and Assembly in Wingman, and Pool Day in Arms Race. This time the maps were not included in the official competitive map pool, but serve only for variety. But there have already been proposals in the community to replace Vertigo with Thera, because the map looks much better. Perhaps over time Valve will come to this, because all the big changes on Vertigo do not bring any positive results, it is still impossible to play on the location.
It is currently unknown how long the new maps will be in the game. However, the legendary Pool Day will most likely remain in it forever, because only two maps were presented in the Arms Race before, and variety is very important to players. Thera has the best chance of getting into the official map pool, since it was created by FMPONE, the author of Cache.
MVP
Also with the addition of new maps, Valve has slightly improved the appearance of Counter-Strike 2. The game has new panels and animations for the MVP of the round: in Premier mode there will now be several views, depending on the results in the round. You will now receive different MVPs for getting 3 or 4 kills, an ace, an explosion, and a bomb defuse, as well as dealing damage with fire or HE grenades.
Ranks
In addition, the rank system, which has been experiencing big problems since the release of Counter-Strike 2, has been improved. Now, to calibrate, you need to win two games on one map, and not ten, as before. The maximum rank for calibration has also been adjusted to normal; now they are not limited to Gold Nova. Previously, players could not achieve high ranks in competitive mode – there were only a few Supreme Master First Class in the world. After the update, the first Global Elites have already appeared in CS2.
Will the operation coming?
After the release of a major update, the likelihood of a new operation being released in the near future has dropped critically. Valve is unlikely to release two major patches in a row. But nevertheless, we must wait for at least a case in the near future. There is still a possibility that this is only the first part of the update and the developers are finishing work on the long-awaited operation. It is impossible to say for sure about this.
The released update for Counter-Strike 2 turned out to be important for the game, but completely disappointed the community, which was expecting more. However, Valve continues to work on the game and perhaps a little later we will still see the desired operation and a working anti-cheat. It’s worth noting that even the release of community maps was not without problems: the developers initially loaded old versions of the locations, and also forgot to load the loading backgrounds for them.
