The main newcomers of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024

Danil donk Kryshkovets, star player of Team Spirit

Every player who decides to connect his life with the professional scene wants to compete at a Counter-Strike major. But getting to the main championship in the discipline is very difficult, especially in our time, when the competition is higher than ever before. Each esports player needs to go a long way, where he will meet young and promising talents, as well as experienced veterans of the scene who already know the formula for success in getting to the major.

However, many players who have never competed in Valve championships made it to PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. They will face a tough test, in addition to their opponents, they will need to cope with the nerves and pressure of performing on the big stage. In total, 34 newcomers will perform in Copenhagen, and we will talk about the main ones in this material.

Young talents of Team Spirit

The greatest attention of the audience will be focused on Team Spirit, as the strongest team on the professional stage at the moment. She came out of nowhere and was able to amaze everyone with her triumph at IEM Katowice 2024. After that, the team also easily qualified for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. Much of Team Spirit’s success comes from their youngest player, Danil donk Kryshkovets. He made it to the major at the age of 17 and is one of the youngest participants in Valve championships. The upcoming tournament in Copenhagen will be the most important test of donk’s ability to perform at the highest level against world giants. There are no doubts about his successful debut at the major; Team Spirit gets out even from situations where opponents have studied their game to the smallest detail and take away all the space for the actions of the team’s main stars.

Also one of the newcomers to the majors is Danil donk Kryshkovets’ teammate – Myroslav zont1x Plakhotia. Like the main star of the roster, zont1x came to the team from the club’s academy. Although he doesn’t stand out from his star co-stars, he does a great job at 18 years old. Zont1x plays as a defensive midfielder and support, which is a very important element of Team Spirit’s structure. His impeccable execution allows donk, sh1ro and magixx to perform to their maximum and create space on the map. Not all fans notice Myroslav’s contribution to the team’s success, but without him it would hardly be in its place.

Jimi Jimpphat Salo

One of the most interesting newcomers is also the young talent of MOUZ – Jimi Jimpphat Salo. He is the brother of the forgotten Jere sergej Salo, who left the professional scene at the peak of his form. Unlike his relative, who performed in ENCE, Jimi had a more difficult path ahead of him. Jimpphat received a VAC ban in 2018 and could not perform at Valve events until January 2023. However, MOUZ bet on the young talent and signed him in July of the same year. During his time with the club, he has already led them to a trophy at ESL Pro League Season 18, second place at CS Asia Championships 2023 and 3-4 places at BLAST Premier World Final 2023 and IEM Katowice 2024.

PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 will be the first championship from Valve where Jimi Jimpphat Salo will be able to play. MOUZ did not miss this opportunity and passed the RMR without any problems, completing it without defeat. The team was even able to cope with Team Spirit. The team is one of the main favorites of the major and much of the credit for this goes to Jimpphat.

AMKAL

AMKAL’s appearance at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 was a real sensation. No one expected that a team that came out of nowhere would be able to qualify not only for RMR, but also for the Valve championship itself. However, the core of the team consists of experienced players from the CIS who have already been to majors and have some practice on the professional stage. The only newcomers to PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 in the AMKAL camp were Aleksandr TRAVIS Timkiv and Kaisar ICY Faiznurov. Unlike the 18-year-old Kazakh, TRAVIS reached the major only at 26 years old. In his previous teams, he failed to achieve success and reach the big stage, but AMKAL has good prospects for gaining a foothold at the tier-1 level. To do this, she needs to realize herself here and now, while her rivals have not yet revealed the secret of their success.

SAW

One of the most inexperienced teams at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 will be the Portuguese SAW. None of the players on the roster played in the majors before the championship in Copenhagen. But despite this, the team has several veterans of the scene who have previously failed to reach the level of championships from Valve.

SAW does not have any special prospects for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, but their very appearance at this championship is a great success for Portuguese esportsmen. The team now has a win streak of 9 matches and if it can maintain its form at the major, it may even become a legend. The five approached their first event from Valve in the best condition to show a good debut.

KOI

One of the «dark horses» of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 is KOI, whose success came when no one expected it. The team was not believed in at all stages of the qualifiers for the major, but it was able to cope with all the difficulties that awaited it on the way to Copenhagen. The Spanish club has three newcomers on its roster – Tiago JUST Moura, Renato stadodo Gonсalvez and Adam adamS Marian. The formula for KOI’s success has still not been revealed, which means that the team is still capable of surprising their opponents and climbing high at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
