The first operation for Counter-Strike 2 is very soon? All the details of a possible big update

Counter-Strike 2

On June 19, the Counter-Strike series turns 25 years old. Valve, as usual, is not sharing its plans for holiday updates, but the community is fully expecting a major patch. Data miners fueled interest by leaking numerous content from the game files, which can be expected in the upcoming update. Everything hints that a new operation awaits us, which will be the first for CS2, and 1000 days have already passed since the last one.

The update will most likely be released on the night of June 18-19 or June 19-20, just in time for the anniversary. In this article we will talk about everything that you can expect from the big Counter-Strike anniversary patch.

Operation

The community is most interested in whether a new operation will be released for the 25th anniversary of Counter-Strike. Enough time has passed since the previous one, so now is the right time to release it. Moreover, the generation of gamers who became acquainted with CS:GO in recent years or those who only came to CS2 do not even know what it is. Along with the operation, we traditionally expect missions with various rewards for their completion, as well as new maps from the community. With almost 100% probability they will be Assembly, Memento (Wingman), Thera, Mills and Pool Day (Arms Race). These cards have already been accepted by Valve, which means that they will definitely appear in the game, even if the operation itself fails. There is also a small chance that Train and Cobblestone will return; the files for the latter map have also been updated, but most likely it is not ready yet.

Pool Day

There are also numerous references to NPCs in the CS2 code. Judging by the leaks, the characters will have a custom script for developers – it will be possible to give them commands, and the NPCs themselves will attack each other. The characters’ reactions are also written: waiting, scared and looking out. However, the NPCs may not be associated specifically with CS2, but become part of other new games from Valve.

One of the innovations of the operation may be cut scenes, which did not exist in the days of CS:GO. Valve is working on a new Pulse system designed to do just that. The company also added a license to use a font called Bangers, which will be used in future Operation comics.

Danger Zone in CS2, new case and knife

Fans of the Danger Zone have been waiting for the return of this mode since the release of Counter-Strike 2. The reasons why such a popular mode did not appear at the launch of the game are still unclear, but now there are many prerequisites for its appearance in a major update. In a minor patch dated June 18, the developers changed the localization files that are directly related to the Danger Zone.

Without a doubt, a major update would not be complete without a case. There is an assumption that the new container will be directly related to this mode and will be called Danger Zone 2. It may contain a new TwinBlade knife, which was featured in leaks a few months ago. The latest update also created hidden lots for new items in CS2 and hinted at the addition of new weapons.

Character customization and cosmetic items

Also, judging by the game files, Valve is working on the visual component of Counter-Strike 2. Agents will undergo big changes: for example, they are expected to be able to move their mouth when you use a microphone. Data miners also discovered a new hair system and its editing: from the amount of hair to the volume of the hair itself. In addition, there is a twelfth cosmetic slot for a custom head and more thoughtful fabric physics, which can be used for cloaks or simply for fabric that covers boxes.

Along with a major update, keychains may appear in the game, which have been in the works for a long time. New lines have appeared in the CS2 code hinting at their addition. The body_collection parameter also lit up, which may indicate custom weapon models that can replace traditional skins.

In addition to cosmetic content, the June 18 update included references to the CS 360 subscription, which served to display personal statistics. Its cost in CS:GO was only $1 per month. The developers do not forget about the anti-cheat, work on it is still underway and perhaps we will see some changes along with the holiday update.

The content of the upcoming major update for Counter-Strike 2 is still kept secret and we can only judge it based on information from data miners. However, their findings usually turn out to be true, which means that we are waiting for a truly large-scale patch in honor of the 25th anniversary, which will give not only new cosmetic items, but also gameplay. We look forward to the official release of the update and believe that Valve has prepared a new operation for us!
