Prospects for the new G2 Esports roster. Will they keep HooXi?
Finally, a couple of weeks after the start of the players’ vacation, the long-awaited off-season reshuffle began. The first big news was shared by G2 Esports: the club got rid of Nemanja nexa Isakovic and acquired Mario malbsMd Samayoa from the American organization M80. Most likely, these are not the last changes in the G2 lineup; it is still not completely clear whether Rasmus HooXi Nielsen will remain in the team. So perhaps even bigger changes await the organization, we continue to monitor the situation around the club. MalbsMd – can it handle Tier 1?
The very first question that arises for G2 Esports is the inexperience of its new player. Mario malbsMd Samayoa has had crazy stats and a 1.34 rating over the last 3 months, but he hasn’t played at a real tier-1 level. M80 took part in several big championships, but did not go far in them. However, she managed to beat G2 Esports once in the BO3 series at ESL Pro League Season 19.
Despite his inexperience, the Guatemalan is a promising player and with the right adaptation and help from his teammates and coach, Mario malbsMd Samayoa has every chance of becoming a top player at a high competitive level.
However, G2 Esports already had some problems signing Mario malbsMd Samayoa, the esportsman previously played in some positions that belong to Nikola NiKo Kovac and Nemanja huNter-Kovac. The team will have to reshuffle defense on most maps from the map pool and it is not a fact that the new positions will ideally suit all players. Because of this, they may feel uncomfortable and not open up to their maximum.
What will happen to HooXi?
The club’s position on replacing the captain is also still clear. The entire Counter-Strike community wants to kick Rasmus HooXi Nielsen, but it is unclear whether the team will go for it. Considering that G2 Esports won the only tournament of the season when they played without him, this reshuffle is more than possible. And the team does not necessarily need to look for a new captain for this position; the role of IGL can be easily taken over by Nikola NiKo Kovac, who has already led the team to victory at IEM Dallas 2024, without much of a drop in statistics. NiKo already has a ton of experience in the esports scene and has already been a leader in his past teams, so if G2 Esports needs a new captain, he won’t have a problem with that. The only question that remains is the mental component, because Kovac is one of the most tilting players.
G2 can consider any defensive player for the vacant position. One of the most interesting options in the community is the addition of Ilya Perfecto Zalutsky, but it is more likely that he will go to Team Vitality or the CIS team. Kristian k0nfig Wieneke or the return of Justin jks Savage could also be options. In addition, after winning IEM Dallas 2024, the club may consider signing Jake Stewie2k Yip, who, although he has not played for a long time, is ready to return to the tier-1 stage.
Already, the G2 Esports roster looks more interesting than it was with Nemanja nexa Isakovic, but fans are still waiting for Rasmus HooXi Nielsen to replace him.
