GuardiaN Retires from Counter-Strike
Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács has officially announced his retirement from professional play. He stated that the decision was an easy one, and he will now focus on streaming.
Career and Achievements
GuardiaN began his career in 2006, achieving his first successes with Reason Gaming. In CS:GO, he became a key player for Natus Vincere (2013–2017), winning several major tournaments with the team. In 2017, he joined FaZe Clan, where he reached three Major finals but never secured the title.
He competed in 14 Majors, finishing as a runner-up at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, MLG Columbus 2016, and ELEAGUE Major 2018. In 2015, he was ranked the second-best player in the world by HLTV. Over his career, he earned more than $800,000 in prize money.
Reflecting on his journey, GuardiaN stated:
“I’m not sad, I’ve done everything I could in esports. I’ve been to Majors, I’ve been to Major finals, I’ve won tournaments, I had amazing teams […] I’ve done it all. I don’t have a Major trophy, but that’s not all it takes to be happy.”
Legacy
GuardiaN was one of the greatest AWPers in CS history. His accuracy and consistency made him a key player for many years. After retiring, he plans to focus on streaming, but his impact on the game will always be remembered.
