Favorites and outsiders PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR B
The matches of Group A of the European RMR for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 have come to an end. We have learned the first eight teams that will perform at the first Major in Counter-Strike 2. But the most interesting is just ahead – in Group B there were several main favorites for the championship, as well as teams, which will definitely provide a breathtaking spectacle. In this article we will discuss the main favorites of European RMR B, as well as teams that have almost no chance of reaching the major.
Teams to go 3-0/3-1
No one could believe this before the start of IEM Katowice 2024, but now it has become a reality. After a successful championship in Poland, Team Spirit are the main favorites at European RMR B and one of the contenders for the championship at the major itself. The team should not have any difficulties in the upcoming qualifications.
However, it is not a fact that Spirit will finish the group with statistics of 3-0. Most matches will be held in bo1 format, and the team’s first opponent will be ENCE, which can force a fight within one map and turn the tide of the match. But even if Team Spirit loses one match, nothing bad will happen, Danil donk Kryshkovets’ talent is enough, and he still has an excellent sniper in his team in the person of Dmitry sh1ro Sokolov.
Team Vitality should not have any difficulties either. Despite the total failure at IEM Katowice 2024, the team is still one of the strongest in the world. The team’s failure in Poland was most likely an absurd coincidence and an ordinary accident. Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut clearly does not intend to miss the major and will do everything possible to win, and he manages to do this alone quite often.
Whether the team will pass with a score of 3-0 depends on the game form in which it approaches the RMR, if Vitality performs like in December 2023, it will even be able to compete with Team Spirit, which is difficult to oppose at the moment. Team Vitality’s first opponent will be GamerLegion, which means that it is highly likely that it will start the qualifications with a 1-0 record.
The team that may well compete for passage to the major with a 3-0 record will be MOUZ. At IEM Katowice 2024, the team gained a lot of playing shape, reaching the semi-finals, and should perform well at RMR. Most likely, this will not be enough to beat Team Vitality and Team Spirit, but MOUZ should pass from the 3-1 basket.
The team’s first opponent will be Guild Eagles, which we will talk about later. A lineup like MOUZ should have no problem sending them to 0-1. The team lost David frozen Chernyansky, but was already able to find its game at IEM Katowice 2024 with newcomer Ludvig Brollan Brolin.
The first tournaments for the new ENCE roster turned out to be difficult. But it looks like the roster with Lucas gla1ve Rossander was finally able to open up. At IEM Katowice 2024, the team took 5th-6th place, where they were stopped by Team Falcons. It will be difficult for such a lineup to return to the top positions again, but it must consistently perform at its level. This will be enough to qualify for the major with a score of 3-1. However, the team’s first opponent will be Team Spirit, which means that it is more likely to start RMR with a defeat.
Big questions arise for Cloud9. The team has enormous ambitions, but has not solved its fundamental problems. However, such a star-studded lineup must overcome the RMR and perform at the major. Perhaps this path will be quite difficult, but I still believe more in the final statistics of 3-1. Based on personal skill, the team contains some of the best players in the world, and the Swiss system should make the main task a little easier and help them get a slot. Cloud9 will start their performance with a meeting with PERA, which many accuse of cheating and if the qualifications for RMR were held on the LAN, it would hardly be here. Miracles happen at the major; perhaps Kirill Boombl4 Mikhailov’s team will be able to perform well at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 even without a permanent sniper.
Teams that will finish 3-2/2-3
Pot 3-2/2-3 in Group B will be the most unpredictable part of qualifying. All six teams can compete for three slots at the major. But it feels like GamerLegion, Astralis and Heroic will go to PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. These three teams look more stable compared to their competitors, but they are unlikely to be able to climb higher.
GamerLegion, after a phenomenal second place at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, have not been able to prove themselves in any tournament, but they constantly put a spoke in the wheels of the favorites. Despite the low places in the championships, the team manages to win unexpected matches from time to time. This will give a small bonus in the Swiss system, and the experience of Janusz Snax Pogorzelski will allow GamerLegion to cling to the 3-2 statistics. The club faces a difficult road, which will begin with a match against Team Vitality, in which there will not be many chances.
Danish clubs Astralis and Heroic, after radical changes in their rosters, cannot yet return to the top of the esports scene, but missing out on a home major would be fatal for them. Teams must give their best and overcome qualifications. So far, both teams are performing with varying success, approximately at the same level, but the Astralis roster looks more promising in the long run.
Astralis and Heroic should start with 1-0, their first opponents will be Nexus and Preasy respectively. Then everything will depend on the seeding, but the clubs must earn two more victories.
Of course, before the start, RMR had more faith in Monte’s passage, but before the start it became known that the club would compete in the qualifications without one of the key players – Viktor sdy Orudzhev, he would not be able to come to the tournament due to illness. He will be replaced by academy member Jack Gizmy von Spreckelsen and this will greatly affect Monte’s performance at RMR. Orudzhev is an important part of the club’s success and getting the desired slot to the major will be problematic. The player can still join the team during the tournament, but it is unknown when this will happen. While it is difficult to predict how the team will start its journey, the first opponent in the person of ECSTATIC looks passable, but the bo1 format and substitution make their own adjustments and anything can happen in the match. Perhaps Monte will need more time to rebuild and there is a high probability that the club will finish the first day with statistics of 0-2 and it will be difficult to get out of this situation.
The only five-time major champion, Peter dupreeh Rasmussen, will also perform at RMR with his new team Preasy. It’s hard to believe in his success, but he has vast experience and has a chance to force a fight on the favorites. Considering the great competition, there is no place for Preasy at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, but they are able to win a couple of matches.
Apeks can also get close to the major. The team will start RMR with a match against the lost OGs and has a chance of a good start. If the team is lucky with its seeding, it even has a chance of clinging to 3-2, but most likely it will end up in the Last Chance Qualifier. As in the case of GamerLegion, Apeks results after BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 are falling lower and lower and missing the major will be a natural outcome.
Teams that will finish 1-3/0-3
The weakest members of European RMR B are ECSTATIC, OG, Guild Eagles, PERA and Nexus. The first three are experiencing big problems, but still stand out from the outsiders. Considering that ECSTATIC will start qualifying against Monte with a replacement, the team can get one card to their asset. OG’s lineup doesn’t inspire much hope either, but losing to PERA or Nexus would be a disgrace for the club.
Guild Eagles consistently surprise at the majors, but every pattern comes to an end sooner or later. The team approaches PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 as not the most competitive and even looks lackluster online. In recent meetings she lost to Insilio, RUBY and PERA. The LAN format will slightly brighten up the roster’s failures, but it is unlikely to claim more than one victory.
PERA and Nexus are expected to be eliminated with a score of 3-0. The appearance of both teams at RMR became possible due to the introduction of the Last Chance system, but they have no chance of a successful performance. However, if the teams meet 0-2 in a head-to-head match, PERA should be stronger. Despite accusations of cheating, it contains stronger and more experienced players, and NEXUS does not even have a coach.
Very soon we will find out eight more participants of the major, as well as three teams that will join BetBoom Team, 9 Pandas and fnatic in the Last Chance Qualifier. Extremely high competition is expected at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 and it is still difficult to predict who will take first place at the CS2 major, however, given the latest results, the team from Group B may become the champion. Because of this, watching the upcoming RMR will become even more interesting, viewers have a chance to see the very beginning of the path of future winners.
Final forecast for Group B results:
- 3-0: Team Spirit, Team Vitality;
- 3-1: MOUZ, ENCE, Cloud9;
- 3-2: GamerLegion, Astralis, Heroic;
- 2-3: Preasy, Monte, Apeks;
- 1-3: ECSTATIC, OG, Guild Eagles;
- 0-3: PERA, Nexus.
