CS2 has released a viewer pass to PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. Forecast for Pick’em Challenge
This year Valve is breaking all anti-records. For the first time in the history of Counter-Strike, we received an update to a major three days before its start. But even it didn’t turn out the way we had been expecting it for the last couple of weeks. Only part of the planned content for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 has become available to players. We have lost the most important component of all championships from Valve – stickers of teams and players.
In this material we will talk about everything that appeared in CS2 before the start of the Opening Stage at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
Why didn't the stickers come out?
The delay in the release of stickers is only partly Valve’s fault. As you know, before PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 the company has tightened the rules for accepting autographs for in-game stickers. Players were prohibited from using the services of designers and special design programs. Only the handwritten version was accepted – this was done so that the autographs were similar to the real signatures that esports players give to fans at tournaments.
The players themselves apparently did not fully understand the essence of these changes or were not even aware of them. Most of the first stickers sent were rejected, and for some esports players, even 2-3 sticker options were not accepted. Eternal Fire player Ali Wicadia Haydar Yalcin faced this problem – his sticker was rejected until the last minute, and the final version was accepted only on the evening of March 13th.
Even taking this fact into account, the delay in the release of stickers is still not fully understood. Most likely, Valve had uploaded the autographs of all other players by this point and the developers only had to add the Wicadia sticker. At the very least, the company could release team stickers and hold back only the esportsmen’s ones. However, Valve has promised to release an update soon. Most likely, this will happen on the night of March 15, as data miners discovered sticker options without a background in the game files.
Viewer Pass and Pick'em Challenge
The familiar and already tired PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 viewer pass has become available to fans. The system remains the same. For purchasing it, players receive an upgradeable tournament coin, which has 4 variations: regular, silver, gold and diamond. To upgrade your medal, you need to make correct predictions at all stages of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 in the Pick’em Challenge. Along with improving the coin, players will receive tokens that will allow them to receive souvenir package. Another pass option is available for purchase: with three additional tokens.
Also, for purchasing the pass, fans will receive free graffiti of any team of their choice until the end of the championship and emoji for Steam chats.
The Pick’em Challenge system itself has undergone minor changes. Now in the first stage of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 you need to make 5 correct predictions out of 10, and not out of 9, as was the case before. Players are required to guess two teams that will go 3-0, six teams that will advance to the next stage and two teams that will go 0-3. At the same time, the appearance of Pick’em Challenge changed: it began to look more modern. Another innovation is that all Prime status holders can now make predictions for free, but to complete tasks and receive rewards, you will need to activate the pass before the start of the stage.
Pick'em Challenge forecast for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: Opening Stage
It is as always difficult to make a correct forecast for the group stages of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. This is especially true for the Opening Stage, when not a single team has yet played their match at a major. You only have to evaluate teams based on past achievements and personal meetings with opponents. However, you can simulate a likely match grid and this task will become a little easier.
According to our assumptions, the optimal choice for 3-0 will be Cloud9 and Eternal Fire. On its way, Kirill Boombl4 Mikhailov’s lineup will meet with ECSTATIC, KOI and ENCE. C9 can handle all opponents and will clearly be the favorite in every match. For Eternal Fire, the situation is more complicated; there is no doubt that the Turkish team will cope with TheMongolz and FURIA Esports, but the decisive meeting with Heroic raises doubts. However, thanks to experience and teamwork, Eternal Fire should be stronger.
The choice of teams for 0-3 is pretty obvious. The weakest participants of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 are Lynn Vision and paiN Gaming, but they will meet in a head-to-head match with statistics of 0-2. Most likely, the Brazilians from paiN will emerge victorious from this match, and the second eliminated team will be Legacy, which will have to face FURIA, SAW and ECSTATIC.
All that remains is to choose the teams that will advance to the Elimination Stage with a score of 3-1 or 3-2. Of all the teams, we prefer ENCE, KOI, HEROIC, SAW, Apeks and 9 Pandas. There are only doubts about the latter; you can choose AMKAL Esports instead. These teams have equal chances to advance, especially considering that they will meet in their debut match.
The update to PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 did not turn out the way we expected it. Valve continues to operate according to the proven system and absolutely nothing has changed in it since the days of CS:GO, even the appearance of the medal and the content that can be obtained for purchasing the pass. However, this does not make watching the Major any less interesting; it will start soon, but for now we just have to wait for the stickers of the teams and players.
