All About Knives in CS2: Which Cases Contain the Most Expensive Knives and Unique Skins? Part 2

We continue to explore which cases hold the knives you’re after, what’s worth opening, and why some knives are rarer on servers than others.

★ Butterfly Knife

★ Butterfly Knife
  • Steam Prices: $565.00 – $3,550.00
  • Cases: Operation Breakout Weapon Case, Dreams & Nightmares Case, Operation Riptide Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Spectrum Case

The most expensive knife in the game was introduced with Operation Phoenix in 2014. The shape and animations of this item are still considered the most impressive and interesting in the entire game. The Butterfly Knife has two draw animations and three inspect animations that are mesmerizing to watch when you have it in your hands. If you want to try your luck in pulling this knife from a case, we recommend opening the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, as it was specifically created for the release of this new item. Even the cheapest skin should more than cover your expenses, and if you’re lucky enough to get an expensive finish, it could be a significant addition to your wallet.

★ Talon Knife

★ Talon Knife
  • Steam Prices: $325.34 – $3,790.00
  • Cases: Prisma 2 Case, Prisma Case, Danger Zone Case, Horizon Case

This knife is a modified version of the Karambit, with a similarly curved blade and reverse grip. In some ways, it can even be called an improved version of the legendary knife thanks to its enhanced animations (such as the prolonged spin on the index finger) and its extravagant ivory handle. By the way, if you didn’t know, any knife animation can be made infinite by holding down the inspect key. This trick is often used by Talon Knife owners.

★ Gut Knife

★ Gut Knife
  • Steam Prices: $131.86 – $445.59
  • Cases: CS Weapon Case, CS Weapon Case #2, CS Weapon Case #3, eSports 2013 Case, eSports 2013 Winter Case, eSports 2014 Summer Case, Operation Bravo Case, Operation Phoenix Weapon Case, Operation Vanguard Weapon Case, Revolver Case, Winter Offensive Weapon Case
  • Cases with expensive finishes: Chroma Case #2, Chroma Weapon Case, Chroma Case #3, Gamma Case #2, Gamma Case

Another old-timer from the first case, the Gut Knife has the unfortunate fate of being a disappointment for most players. Pulling this knife from a case is an unpleasant outcome, especially in a cheap finish. The design is questionable, with a bulky handle, no interesting animations, and a ridiculous blade. As you can see, this trap awaits you in most cases, but Valve wouldn’t be Valve if they didn’t include such a pitfall.

★ Skeleton Knife

★ Skeleton Knife
  • Steam Prices: $278.77 – $1,474.31
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case

Despite the extremely limited number of cases from which you can obtain this knife, it is very popular and well-loved in the community. It looks great with any skin due to the lack of wear, and its charm lies in the blade’s shape. It’s the perfect balance between knives with reverse and regular grips. It inherits interesting animations from the former thanks to the ring between the blade and handle, and the familiar appearance and shape from the latter. Considering that the Shattered Web Case is now limited, the price of this knife should only rise due to its scarcity on the market—unless the developers decide to add it to one of the upcoming cases.

★ Stiletto Knife

★ Stiletto Knife
  • Steam Prices: $234.55 – $1,150.00
  • Cases: Prisma 2 Case, Prisma Case, Danger Zone Case, Horizon Case

In the early days of its release, this knife earned the nickname “toothpick,” and you can still find this name tag on a significant portion of Stilettos. However, over time, many have come to appreciate its aesthetic, especially the characteristic click when it opens. This knife is often chosen by snipers looking to balance the massive AWP in their hands. It also inherited the title of “magic wand” from the AWP due to its visual resemblance and the wand-like effect when pressing the “F” and “R” keys.

★ Nomad Knife

★ Nomad Knife
  • Steam Prices: $170.04 – $1,300.00
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case

The Nomad Knife has only recently begun to gain its audience. It has a rare inspect animation where the character flips the knife multiple times and a rare draw animation where the character transfers the knife from one hand to the other, accidentally cutting a finger. It’s the cut effect that has led many to actively use this item. Unfortunately, not all finishes are available for knives from the Shattered Web Case, which significantly limits the choice and prevents it from gaining widespread popularity.

★ Flip Knife

★ Flip Knife
  • Steam Prices: $185.08 – $1,004.70
  • Cases: CS Weapon Case, CS Weapon Case #2, CS Weapon Case #3, eSports 2013 Case, eSports 2013 Winter Case, eSports 2014 Summer Case, Operation Bravo Case, Operation Phoenix Weapon Case, Operation Vanguard Weapon Case, Revolver Case, Winter Offensive Weapon Case
  • Cases with expensive finishes: Chroma Case #2, Chroma Weapon Case, Chroma Case #3, Gamma Case #2, Gamma Case

The first flip knife, which received a fitting name. Aside from the draw animation, it doesn’t have much to impress players, but its relatively simple appearance makes it suitable for most setups. The price-to-quality ratio is definitely on point, so even if you’re hunting for more expensive loot, pulling this knife from a case won’t be disappointing at all.

★ Survival Knife

★ Survival Knife
  • Steam Prices: $117.91 – $499.99
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case

Competing with other gold-tier items, this knife truly “survives.” It doesn’t evoke any strong emotions; it has no haters, no fans, and this fact is hard to explain. It simply didn’t catch on. It happens. Like all knives from the Shattered Web Case, the focus is on animation. Here, it’s realized in the draw animation—the character tosses the knife with a flip and catches it mid-air.

★ Navaja Knife

★ Navaja Knife
  • Steam Prices: $110.20 – $361.62
  • Cases: Prisma 2 Case, Prisma Case, Danger Zone Case, Horizon Case

For many players, this knife was one of their first in the game due to its low cost. The small blade looks a bit ridiculous in hand, making it seem like it’s difficult to deal damage with it. Of course, skins don’t affect this parameter, but it’s a great way to try something new. The Navaja has a rather realistic draw animation, where the blade is drawn slowly with the help of the second hand. It’s also an excellent choice for chasing expensive finishes like Fade and Doppler, thanks to its affordable price.

★ Huntsman Knife

★ Huntsman Knife
  • Steam Prices: $137.00 – $679.22
  • Cases: Huntsman Weapon Case, Dreams & Nightmares Case, Operation Riptide Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Spectrum Case

The Huntsman Knife has its own dedicated case with no alternatives in the gold item drop (Huntsman Weapon Case). Despite this, the demand for it hasn’t grown significantly, but its simplicity and relatively low cost attract some players. The community rarely favors such massive items because they take up a substantial part of the screen. One of its advantages is the large number of finishes available and the unusual draw animation involving several vertical spins.

★ Kukri

★ Kukri
  • Steam Prices: $145.61 – $802.60
  • Cases: Revolution Case

The newest model, which appeared at the beginning of 2024, occupies the only slot in the knife drop. After a long time, Valve returned to this release scheme for new knives and might stick to it in the future. The knife itself seems a bit out of place in the game’s lore and slightly stands out from the rest. As practice shows, people often revisit novelties after a couple of years, and it’s possible that the Kukri will share the same fate.
